Keywords: Teaching Writing Strategy, Teacher’s Motivation, Importance of Writing Skill Writing is a complex skill to learn especially for foreign language students. In writing students need to consider many linguistics aspect as grammar and vocab. As a medium of communication, writing is important to be mastered. The use of strategy in teaching writing has an important role. Choosing an appropriate strategy enables teacher and students to achieve the learning objectives. The objectives of this research is to identify and investigate the teachers’ strategy used by English Teacher in teaching writing for second grade of MTsN 8 Blitar. The formulation of the research problem were: 1) What are strategies used by English teachers in teaching writing for second grade at MTsN 8 Blitar? 2) What factors motivate teacher to use the strategies? The purpose of this research were 1) to know what the strategies that used are by English teacher in teaching writing for second grade. 2) To know what factors motivate teacher to use strategies in teaching writing. The researcher conducted a qualitative descriptive approach through semi structured interviews as the primary technique to collect the data. The informants were two of English teachers for eight grade. Observation and documentation as a secondary technique to investigate the implementation and the result of students’ writing. The data has been analyzed by using three stages, they are familiarizing and organizing, coding and reducing after that interpreting representing. The research findings showed some strategies used by the teachers in teaching writing. They are Guided Questions, Table, Story Frame, Arranging Sentences, Mind Mapping and Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL). The teachers are motivated to implement strategy in teaching writing because if students are allowed to write freely without any guidance, the result will be far from the expectation. So, the use of strategy is to facilitate students in learning writing and produce a good writing. Furthermore, in learning activities students will get bored easily. The use of appropriate strategy is to make learning fun for students and the learning objectives can still be achieved.
