The Effectiveness of Using Animation Movie as Medium in Teaching Writing Narrative Text for the First Grade Students at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) Rejotangan. Thesis. English Education Department. In this study, Animation movie is the medium used in teaching writing narrative text. Movie is audio visual media used to attract students’ attention in learning English especially in writing. In this research,the researcher try to find out the effectiveness of using animation movie as the medium in teaching writing narrative for first grade students at MAN Rejotangan. The researcher uses animation movie because movie is appropriate for the students in senior high school, it is interesting for them and has a simple story and also funny character. Beside that, the movie contain moral value and has easy language. To be able to make students easier in writing narrative text. So, students easier in understood the meaning of movie as the media in teaching writing especially writing narrative text. The formulation of this research was is it effective to use animation movie as the medium in teaching narrative text for the first grade student at MAN Rejotangan? The purpose of this study was to find out the effectiveness of using animation movie as the medium in teaching narrative text for the first grade students at MAN Rejotangan. Research method: 1) this research design in this study was experimental design with quantitative approach, 2) the population of this study was 276 students of the first grade at MAN Rejotangan, 3) the sample was X IPS 1 class consisting of 36 students, 4) the research instrument was test, 5) the data analysis was using T-test. The result showed that the students’ mean score in writing narrative text before being taught by using animation movie was 15.19 and after being taught by using animation movie was 17.83.The result based on the output data of paired sample test it is known the Sig. (2-tailed) is 0.000. It means that the significance level is less than 0.05 (0.000 < 0.05). Means the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted, while the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. It could be concluded that there is significant different of mean score of the students’ writing narrative text by using animation movie as medium for the first grade students at MAN Rejotangan before and after being given treatment. In other words, animation movie can be used as an alternative medium to teaching writing narrative text for the first grade students at senior high school.
