ABSTRAK Firdiansyah, Gerry. NIM.17203153046. 20019. The Politeness Strategies Implemented Teaching Activities at Ma Almuslimun Kaswistolegi Lamongan. Sarjana Thesis. English Education Departement. Faculty Of Tabiyah and Teaching Training. State Islamic Institute (IAIN) Of Tulungagung. Advisor: Muh. Basuni, M.Pd. Keyword: Politeness strategy, teaching and learning activity. In education, some aspects cannot be separated from teaching learning process and interaction between students and teachers. Classroom some place of the interaction process which happens between a teacher and students. It must be effective and polite. If in the classroom interaction runs well, the knowledge that will be delivered by the teacher will be received by students well. Teacher professional role endows them with right to evaluate students’ behaviors, constrain their freedom of actions, control resources and give critical feedback, poses threat to students’ positive and negative face. The interesthing something that researcher found in this case in teaching and learning using politeness strategies. And the thing that makes even mor interesthing in islamic boarding school at Ma Al muslimun kawistolegi lamongan, because in islamic boarding shcool have same special to teaching and learning proces. The formulation of the Research Question are: 1) What kinds of politeness strategy used in teaching and learning activities at MA Al-Muslimun Kawistolegi Lamongan?. 2) What politeness strategy is mostly used by teaching activities at MA Al-Muslimun Kawistolegi Lamongan?. The porpose research are: 1)To identify the types of Politeness strategy in teaching and learning activities at MA Al Muslimun Kawistolegi Lamongan. 2) To identify the mostly of Politeness strategy in teaching activities at MA Al-Muslimun Kawistolegi Lamongan. In conduction this research used descriptive qualitative method to collect and analyze data. The subject of this data of this study ware English Teacher at Ma Almuslimun Kawistolegi Lamomgan istrument used teaching and learning proses utterence, the strategies positive politeness, negative politeness, bald on record, and off record strategy. Data analysis using qualitative analysis, data reduction, data presentation, cooding, conclution, and final conclution. The researcch finds strategies used by politeness strategies be implemented in teaching and learning activity. The study shows that; bald on record used in the situation which speaker wants to achieve the maximum efficiency of his utterance, politeness strategy used in the condition in whichspeaker tries to minimize the distance between expressing an interest, negative politenessstrategy which is used in the situation in which speaker has the main focus on assuming that he may be imposing and intruding on hearer‟s space, and last off record strategy which is used in the condition.
