Keyword: Effectiveness, Reading, Herringbone Technique Reading is more complex than reconstructing meaning from printed or digital text. In reading activity, students or readers have to recognize and comprehend what they read. These day, students usually find difficulties in understanding main idea of the text. The teacher needs technique that can make students more understand the main idea in the text. There are so many technique that can be used by teacher to help them teaching reading. One of those technique is Herringbone technique. Herringbone technique is the technique in teaching where the student analyze 5W + 1H using fish diagram. This study was carried out to investigate the effectiveness of ”The Effectiveness of Herringbone Technique Towards Student’s Reading Comprehension In The 10th Grade at MA Darul Huda Wonodadi”. The formulation of the research problem is: “Is there any significant difference towards student’s reading narrative text achievement before and after being taught by using Herringbone technique to 10th grade students at MA Darul Huda Wonodadi?”. The purpose of this research is to find out whether the use of Herringbone technique is effective to use in teaching reading of narrative text or not. This research used pre-experimental design with quantitative approach. The population of this research was 10th grade students at MA Darul Huda Wonodadi on academic year 2018/2019. The sample of this research was 10th grade social class which consisted of 34 students chosen by purposive sampling technique. To collect the data, the researcher used research instrument in form of test. To analyze the collected data, the researcher used SPSS 16.0 version software. The finding of this research showed that there is a significant difference between the result of pre-test and post-test. The mean of post-test was 75.00 and it was higher than the mean of pre-test (72.94), the different mean is 2.06. It means that there was increasing score on the students’ achievement. From statistical calculation showed that the significant value is 0.000 which was smaller than the significant level (0.050). It means that the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. In addition, the use of Herringbone technique in reading has a significant influence on the reading ability of student. So it can be concluded that this technique can be used in teaching and learning especially reading.
