Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training. State Islamic Institute (IAIN) of Tulungagung. Advisor: Dr. Hj. Nanik Sri Rahayu, M.Pd. Key words: Analysis, Characterization, and Character Studying about characters and characterization in the movie is important because characterization or description of a character is an important element in the story. Without characters there would be no story, without characters there would be no plot. And usually viewers prefer a characters that are well-described. “The Theory of Everything” movie is choosen because it is a biographical or biopic movie of a very inspiring and world-famous person, and also everyone must be familiar with Stephan Hawking, because of his theory about the black holes, and his controversy that there is no place for god and this universe created by itself. The second reason, after watching this movie there are so many characterization of the main characters, and knowledge which can be gotten. The writer knows that most of people watchs movie and they can get the knowledge easily by watching movie without reading deeply. The statements of research problem are: 1) How are the physical appearance of the main characters? 2) How are the personality of the main characters? 3) How are the social status of the main character? 4) How are the social relationship of the main characters? This research is intended to explain 1) The main characters’ physical appearance 2) The main characters’ personality 3) The main characters’ social status 4) The main characters’ social relationship. The method in this study is qualitative by using library research. In this study used the structural analytical approach as the data analysis.The data for this research were all sentences and dialogues among the character in the movie which are related to the characters’ characterization. From the result of the research, it revealed that: Stephen Hawking and Jane Wilde Hawking are the main character in the movie. The first main character is Stephen Hawking, in physical appearances, wears glasses and has a very thin body, In Personality aspect: Good person, funloving, active, playful, easy to despair, brilliant, lazy, stubborn, In social status : student of science at Cambridge University, In social relationships : never tells his problem to others. The other main character is Jane Wild Hawking. in physical appearances : young woman, has a bouffant hairstyle. In personality : good woman, good singer, sincere person. In Social Status : Student of arts at Cambridge University. In social relationship : always tells her feelings to others and asks for solutions to her problems.
