Before technology developed rapidly as it is today, teachers still used traditional methods which sometimes took a lot of time and sometimes made students bored. Because of the reason, teacher should give an effective media, especially in teaching English listening. However listening is important in learning English because before students are able to speak English they need to hear first. In the listening, the appropriate ways media that can use are videos. Videos containing from native speakers themselves are able to practice students' listening skills. In this study the videos is taken VOA because the VOA itself is easy to operate can be repeated how many times listener want. According to Sabinus (2013) the use of VOA Video contributed a significant improvement of the student achievement in listening comprehension. Because of it, in this study the researcher examined a correlation between watching VOA videos and students’ listening skill in the Fourth Semester Students of English Education Department at IAIN Tulungagung Academic Year 2019/2020. The aims of the research are to find whether or not there is any significant correlation between watching VOA videos and students’ listening skill. However, the formulation of the research problem of this study is “Is there any correlation between watching VOA (Voice of American) video and students listening skill?” This research uses quantitative approach with a correlation design using two variables. The student activity in watching VOA (Voice of American) video was variable x and their listening scores were variable y. The instruments of this research are questionnaire which is used to find the data score of students watching VOA videos and the second instrument is test which is used to find the data of students listening skill. The subject of the study is 43 students from TBI 4 A at English Department of IAIN Tulungagung. The data is analyzed by using Spearman Correlation by SPSS 20 program. Related to the researcher finding, of the index value of correlation coefficient between the two variables was found to be 0.136 which means a very low correlation. However, the correlation coefficient indicates positive correlation. Furthermore, the ρ-value 0.385 was bigger than level significant 0.05 so the null hypothesis which stated that “There is no significant correlation between students watching VOA video and their listening skill.” was accepted. Therefore, there is no significant correlation between students watching VOA video and their listening skill at the fourth semester students of English Department at IAIN Tulungagung.There are some possible factors contributing to insignificance: (1) Because of the student’s frequency in watching VOA video relative low, (2) The researcher can choose appropriate sampling technique to get the right target, (3) The researcher less control in collecting the data via online. However the alternative variable that can use another VOA videos such as BBC videos, English movie, English songs.
