English Education Department. State Islamic Institute (IAIN) Tulungagung. Advisor: Dr. Erna Iftanti, M.Pd. Keywords: Textbook, 2013 Curriculum, Tomlinson’s theory, When English Rings A Bell Realizing the importance of English language in globalization era, recently, Indonesian government has implemented English subject into the academic curriculum as a compulsory subject to be taught in Junior and Senior High School. Recently, by Peraturan Pemerintah No.32 Th. 2013 the educational system of Indonesia has launched the 2013 curriculum. The aim of this curriculum is preparing Indonesian people to be religious, productive, creative, and innovative. Furthermore, it is hoped that they also can give contribution for their social life, nation, country and world civilization. This new launched curriculum has Core and Basic competences and uses Scientific Approach in its teaching and learning process. The formulation of the research problems in this research were: 1) How is the relevance of the materials in English Textbook “When English Rings A Bell” (2017 Revised Edition) with the cognitive and psychomotor domains of 2013 Curriculum? 2) How is the relevance of the materials in English Textbook “When English Rings A Bell” (2017 Revised Edition) with the Tomlinson’s theory of material evaluation? The purpose of this research were: 1) To elaborate the relevance of the materials in English Textbook “When English Rings A Bell” (2017 Revised Edition) with the cognitive and psychomotor domains of 2013 Curriculum. 2) To investigate the relevance of the materials in English Textbook “When English Rings A Bell” (2017 Revised Edition) with the Tomlinson’s theory of material evaluation. Research Method: 1) The research designs in this research were qualitative research in the form of content analysis, 2) The data and data sources, the data were the words, texts and pictures as outlined in the English textbook “When English Rings A Bell” for grade VII (2017 Revised Edition). The textbook also as the primary source, 3) The data collection in this study was documentation, 4) The main instrument in this study was checklist, 5) The trustworthiness of the data were checked by using theoritical triangulation and code-recode strategy, 6) The data analysis and interpretation were using data reduction, data display, and conclusion. The result showed that the English textbook “When English Rings A Bell” for grade VII (2017 Revised Edition) fulfilled 16 of 16 indicators or 100% of cognitive aspect (basic competence three), 15 from 15 indicators or 100% of psychomotor aspect (basic competence four), and 12 from 16 criteria or 75% of Tomlinson’s theory of material evaluation. This means that most of the materials were relevant to the Basic and Core Competence in the 2013 Curriculum and fulfilled the criteria of good textbook by Tomlinson’s theory.
