Abstract

Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training. State Islamic Institute (IAIN) of Tulungagung. Advisor: Dr. Nurul Chojimah, M.Pd. Keywords: request strategy, movie entitled “The Journey of Mysterious Island 2” In everyday life, a person as a part of society that needs to communicate to each other in order to fulfill their own needs, There are some acts that is used by the people to fulfill their own needs, such as: how they express what their feeling, knowledge, and thinking. Such as, request act. The act is rather frequently in our life. Because, we are social human. But for the fact, now the phenomenon is not only in the real life but also in the movie. Through of the movie, we can find some phenomenal act. Movie that early just gives an intertainment, now from the media of electronic we can analyze some phenomenons that appear in our life. Such as, analyzing of request act. The statement of the research problems in the study were: 1) What strategies are used to realize the act of requset in the movie entitled “The Journey of Mysterious Island 2”? 2) When do the characters commonly perform the act of request in the movie entitled “The Journey of Mysterious Island 2”? The objectives of the research of this study were to: 1) Analyze the strategies to realize the act of request in the movie entitled “The Journey of Mysterious Island 2”. 2) Know when the characters commonly perform the act of request in the movie entitled “The Mysterious Island 2”. The research is conducted by using library study that tends to be a qualitative research which is aimed at finding of request strategy in the movie entitled “The Journey of Mysterious Island 2” that is performed by the character. This research is conducted to analyze the request expression that is expressed by the character based on the startegy. In the research, there are two main types of strategies, they are direct and indirect request strategies. Request expression will be devided into sixt of substrategies, they are: imperatives, performatives, obligation, want statement, and hint request strategies. The data analyzed are request that is performed by the characters in the movie entitled “The Journey of Mysterious Island 2”. The result showed that there are some of imperatives request strategies, performatives request strategies, obligation request startegies, want statement request startegies, and hint request strategies in the movie.
