Teacher Creativity in Creating English Speaking Environment at Islamic Senior High School Darul Hikmah Tawangsari Kedungwaru Tulungagung. Sarjana Thesis. English Education Department. Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training. State Islamic Institute (IAIN) of Tulungagung. Advisor: Faizatul Istiqomah, M.Ed. Keywords: teacher creativity, language environment, speaking environment. Teaching speaking is a complex skill that creativity could be one of the ways for teachers to increase students’ skill, proficiency and competence. The great achievement for language learners is mainly seen from how far they can use the language in both fluency and accuracy. At school, students do not merely take their time for learning speaking, yet they have other skills to comprehend. Here, teacher creativity is crucially important that teacher should think about students’ succeed that is mastering English. Therefore, creating English speaking environment is the best way to help learners deal with oral language in daily communication either inside or outside the classroom. This study is intended to know the way of creative teacher in creating English speaking Environment at Islamic Senior High School Darul Hikmah. The formulation of the research problem was: How are the ways of teacher to set up English speaking environment creatively. Hence, the purpose of this study was to know the way of teacher to set up English speaking environment creatively at Islamic Senior High School Darul Hikmah. The research design of this study was descriptive qualitative. While the subject of this study was the English teacher and the students of second grade Senior High School. Besides, the research instruments were observation sheet, field notes, interview transcript and documentation. Then, the data analysis used by the researcher were inductive method. The result showed that to create English speaking environment, teachers firstly should employ many kinds of technique in teaching speaking by following some consideration: (a) Using speaking activities which have creative dimension, (b) Looking for new way of teaching speaking, (c) Customizing the lesson based on students’ need and interest in speaking. Secondly, teacher makes use of technology, such as internet, projector, digital dictionary, etc. Again, teacher need to apply communicative language teaching by these following approach: (a) Students-centered learning, (b) Cooperative learning, (c) Interactive learning. Still, it is northworthy for teacher to establish classroom routines, for example by puting to use either reward or punishment and to use english as communication. Besides, clarifying teacher roles is a requirement. Moreover, teacher have to enrich physical classroom environment, such as managing students bench. The last, teacher ought to build social classroom environment by having a lot of group or pair work.
