Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Islamic State University of Tulungagung. Advisor: Dr. Ida Isnawati, M. Pd. Keywords: Deixis, Tv Series, Pragmatics, Reference, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Language is used to provide information from one person to another. Language is very important for peoples because without language, they cannot communicate well. Therefore, the use of language is to prevent miscommunication between addresser and addressee. In the branch of linguistics, research that discusses the meaning of language is called pragmatics. In pragmatic theory, there are many types of language use, one of which is deixis. The research problem of this study formulated : What are the types of Deixis that found in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air tv series script? And what are the most dominant type of deixis that found in The Fresh Prince of Bel Air tv series? The purpose of the study is to find out whether how many types that found in the script and what is the most dominant deixis that used in the script. The researcher conducted a document or content analysis. This research use document or content analysis because the researcher describes pragmatic aspects of reference especially the use of deixis in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air tv Series Script. This means that, researchers use documents in this research, namely the transcripts of conversations by actors in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and analyze contents of the scripts. So, the researchers collected data from tv Series scripts and analyzed utterances containing deitic expressions uttered by the actors in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air tv Series. The type of this research is Descriptive Qualitative research. It is aimed to find out the types of Personal, Time, Place, Discourse and Social Deixis and its reference by main character in “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” tv series script based on the theory that proposed by Levinson. The object of this study is “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” tv series script. This research found the five types of deixis in movie script, they are person deixis (227 occurences), time deixis (44 occurences), place deixis (10 occurences), discourse deixis (11 occurences) and social deixis (12 occurence).
