English Education Department. Faculty of Education and Teacher Training. State Islamic University (UIN) Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung. Advisor. Dr. Sukarsono, M.Pd. Keyword: Effectiveness,Youtube as Media, Listening Ability. Listening skills, as one of the basic skills of English, have an important role in the language learning process. Currently, teachers can use social media as part of technology to become a new medium in listening practice. Youtube subtitles can be a good social media to use in listening exercises to stimulate students to provide understanding and increase interest in learning listening skills at school. The formulation of the research problem is "Is there a significant difference in listening ability between before and after using learning through YouTube for students' at first grade of SMPN 1 Kalidawir, Tulungagung". The purpose of this study was "To prove a significant difference in scores on students' listening skills before and after being taught using youtube subtitle media at first grade at SMPN 1 Kalidawir, Tulungagung". The research design used a pre-experimental research design using one group pre- test and post-test with a quantitative approach. The population in this study were seventh grade students of SMPN 1 Kalidawir. The sample of this study was the VIID students of SMPN 1 Kalidawir, totaling 31 students consisting of 16 males and 15 females through total sampling. The research instrument is a test. Data analysis was analyzed using the T test. The findings show that using Youtube subtitled media is effective in teaching listening skills to seventh grade students of SMPN 1 Kalidawir. This can be seen from the average total score of students' listening skills before being taught using Youtube subtitles is 61.77. However, the average total score of students after being taught using Youtube subtitled media was 78.32. Then the significant p-value is smaller than the significant level (0.000 < 0.050). In other words, H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. It can be concluded that there is a significant difference in students' speaking skill scores before and after being taught using the seventh grade Youtube subtitled media at SMPN 1 Kalidawir, Tulungagung.
