ABSTRACT Fahrudin, Muahammad Panji (17203163197). “Students’ Perception Of Use Podcast In The Teaching Listening Of The Second Year Students Of State Islamic Junior High School (MTs) PSM Tanen Tulungagung”. A Thesis of English Education Department, Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training, State Islamic Institute (IAIN) of Tulungagung 2021. Advisor: Dr. Dwi Astuti Wahyu Nurhayati, SS., M.Pd. Keywords: Listening, Podcast, Perception Listening is one of the most important aspects of learning a language. We are required to be able to understand the language spoken by someone through listening and also gestures when speaking. There are many ways and strategies that are used in the world of education to be able to dominner listening well. Teachers are required to be innovative in using learning strategies such as listening. This is what encourages teachers to use learning media to make it easier to learn listening. MTs PSM Tanen uses video podcast media in learning to listen. This encourages researchers to find out how students perceive using video podcast media in listening learning. The general problem of this study “How are students’ perception of use podcast in the teaching listening of the second year students of state islamic junior high school (MTs) PSM Tanen Tulungagung?”. The overall goal of this research is to describe students’ perception of use podcast in the teaching listening of the second year students of state islamic junior high school (MTs) PSM Tanen Tulungagung. The research design of this study was the researcher using the qualitative method. The data sources of this study are English teachers and the secound year students of MTs PSM Tanen Tulungagung. The research data was obtained from observation, in-depth interviews and documentation. Then use interactive analysis methods to analyze the data and drawing conclusions. To check the credibility of the data, the researcher used data sources and triangulation of methodology in this study. In using triangulation of data sources, researchers collect data from various sources to check the validity of the data. This study used samples from 2 classes by interviewing several students from different classes, at the time of observation the researchers made observations in class, when the teacher used video podcasts, the video was taken by the teacher from youtube without subtitles to train students' listening. The teacher also makes groups to discuss about the video played by the teacher, students discuss to answer the questions given by the teacher. The researcher also fetching the data from the English teacher by interviewing in depth. Based on the results of observations, interviews, and documentation, it is known that the practice of video podcast media to listening learning provides a positive perception of students. Students prefer listening learning using this method. Teachers are expected to continue to apply this video podcast media in listening learning at MTs PSM Tanen Tulungagung.
