ABSTRACT Setyo Wati, Winda. Registered Number. 12203183192. 2022. Teachers’ Strategies In Teaching Reading At SMKN 1 Bandung In The Academic Year 2020- 2021, Advisor: Dr. Hj. Ida Isnawati., M.Pd. Keywords: Teachers’ Strategy, reading, Teaching The teaching strategy is the teachers’ plan in the teaching and learning process to achieve a predetermined goal. In other words, teaching techniques are methods for teaching students. Instructors must use strategies to find a balance between innovative teaching methods and the style in which the material is applied by the teacher. As in teaching students in English subjects, appropriate strategies are needed so that students can absorb the material given well. but basically not all strategies can be applied there must be problems that arise from teachers and students. The formulations in this study are: What are the teachers’ strategy in teaching reading at SMKN 1 Bandung? and How do the strategies help the teaching reading at SMKN 1 Bandung? The research uses a qualitative approach, where the research subjects are English teachers at SMKN 1 Bandung. The data collection techniques using observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis technique used is reduction, grouping, and conclusion The results showed that in the learning process of reading comprehension, teachers of SMKN 1 Bandung found that in pre-reading activities were stimulation, motivation, and delivery of strategies. While in learning while reading the teacher at SMKN 1 Bandung uses 4 strategies, namely semantic mapping, 4QR, Think Aloud and Sketch to Sketch. and finally, at the post-reading stage, the teacher at SMKN 1 Bandung gave the task of summarizing the reading text. The strategies used in learning reading comprehension by the English teacher at SMKN 1 Bandung can improve students' reading skills, increase English vocabulary, and improve grammar mastery.
