Keyword: Effectiveness, YouTube Short, Speaking Achievement. Speaking skill is one of important language skills in learning English. Currently, teachers can use social media as part of technology to become a new medium in speaking practice. YouTube short is one of media which use in speaking exercise to stimulate students to give understanding and increase the use of internet in learning Speaking at school. The formulation of the research problem is “Is there any significant difference scores on students’ speaking achievement before and after taught by using YouTube short at the seventh graders of MTs PSM Mirigambar?”. The purpose of this study was “To investigate a significant difference scores on students’ speaking achievement before and after taught by using YouTube short media at the seventh graders of MTs PSM Mirigambar”. The method used in this study was pre-experimental research using one group pre-test and post-test with quantitative approach. The population of this research were seventh graders students of MTs PSM Mirigambar. The sample were the students VII of MTs PSM Mirigambar in which total of them 15 students consisting of 5 females and 10 males through population sampling. The research instrument is speaking test. The data analysis was analyzed by using Wilcoxon sign range test. The findings showed that using YouTube short media is effective in teaching speaking at seventh graders students of MTs PSM Mirigambar. It can be seen from the mean of the total scores of students’ speaking achievement before being taught by using YouTube short was 58.00. However, the mean of the total scores of students’ speaking achievement after being taught by using YouTube short was 76.40. Then, significant p-value is smaller than the significant level (0.001 < 0.050). In other words, Ha is accepted and HO is rejected. It can be concluded that there is a significant difference in students’ speaking achievement score before and after taught by using YouTube short at the seventh graders of MTs PSM Mirigambar.
