Keywords: Improving, Three-Step Interview, Speaking. Speaking is important skill to communicate with other people in English fluently, but most of the students in vocational schools rarely use English when they communicate with their teacher or partners in the English class. So, the teacher must create the appropriate conditions in class where the students can actively communicate with others in English. The researcher intends to help the English teacher improving the students’ speaking skill by introducing one of Collaborative Teaching Learning model namely, Three-Step Interview to improve speaking ability for the tenth grade of students’ of Vocational Schools. The problems of the research are: How can Three-Step Interview be used to improve the students’ speaking ability of the tenth grade students at SMK PGRI 1 Tulungagung in the academic year 2015/2016?. Hence, the objective of this research is to find out how Three-Step Interview can improve the Speaking ability of the tenth grade students’ at SMK PGRI 1 Tulungagung in the academic year 2015/2016. This research was conducted by using Classroom Action Research (CAR), through two cycles. Every cycle includes four steps namely planning, acting, observing, and reflecting adapted from CAR model of Kemmis and Mc. Taggart’s design. The subjects of the study is XI AK2 students’ of SMK PGRI 1 Tulungagung, consist of 37 female students’. This study is a collaboration classroom action research which the researcher is helped by the collaborator to observe the students’ participation during the process of teaching and learning activities. This study categorized success if 80% of students get score more than the passing grade (≥ 75). The findings of this research indicated that Three-Step Interview can improve the students’ speaking ability. It can be seen from the increasing score of students during the research. The percentage of cycle 1 test, was 62,16% students’ classified into success (≥ 75) while 37,83% students’ failed (< 75). Then, the percentage of cycle 2 test was 81,08% students’ classified into success (≥ 75) while 18,91% students’ were unsuccessful. Furthermore, the mean score of students’ speaking achievement in cycle 1 was 72, while the mean score of cycle 2 was 80. The data above proved that implementing Three-Step Interview can be used as alternative teaching technique to improve students’ speaking skills for tenth grade students’ of Vocational School.
