English Education Department Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training. State Islamic University of Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung. Advisor: Dr. H. Nursamsu, S.Pd.I., M.Pd. Keywords : effectiveness, Video Conversation , ReadingAchievement Education in Indonesia is still lack in equity, in facilities, and school building, and professional teachers. However, the government has tried the best to eliminate the gaps that occur in education in Indonesia. In this case the basic method in which students can learn to fulfill basic requirements of English language skills need listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Effective education requires that teachers comprehend learning styles and their function in the teaching and learning process. In practice, learning media must be compatible with the teacher's lesson plan. In order to teach students in front of the class, a facilitator must be properly prepared. Then, teachers provide interesting materials to enhance students' learning activities There are factors that encourage student achievement in learning activities in students by using videos, namely making the classroom atmosphere fun because using videos in learning that makes students more enthusiastic Based on the background that has stated above, the researcher formulated the research question as “Is the use of video conversation effective towards student reading achievement in learning English at SMPN 1 Bandung?" Researcher conducted this research using a quantitative research approach. The design used pre-experimental methods design in one class. The sample group is VIIIB students at SMPN 1 Bandung. The purpose of the pretest is to measure whether it affects student achievement, while the purpose of the post test is to see the impact of learning after video is introduced as a learning medium. The sample used was a class of 34 students whose valid instruments were measured by Face Validity, Construct Validity, Content Validity and ReliabilityTest. then the data collected in this research was analyzed using the Normality Test and Homogeneity Test The pre test and post test results, it can be seen that the results of the independent sample T-test using SPSS 24.0 analysis obtained a sig / P-value of less than 0.005. This means that there is a significant difference in scores between students who are taught using conventional methods using youtube videos. Therefore, video applications are effective and can be used as alternative media in increasing student achievement.
