Keywords: Flash Card, Writing Ability, Descriptive Text Writing is a part of English skills which plays an important role as a means of communication. One of the reasons is that more and more people need to learn to write in English for occupational or academic purposes. Writing differs from other skills (reading, speaking, and listening). Learning English, especially in witing, is a boring activity for students. Flash cards are a medium that is easy to apply and supports effective writing teaching. Therefore, the used of media in writing learning is very necessary to improve students' understanding. This research aimed to measure students’ writing ability for the eighth-grade students of MTs Darul Falah Tulungagung using flashcard in teaching English and to find out whether Flashcard is effective for students’ writing ability. The purpose of this research is to know the significant difference in scores between students’ writing ability before and after being taught flashcards in the eight at MTs Darul Falah Tulungagung. Pre-experimental research method was used and a number of 31 students participated in this research. Before doing the treatment, the researcher apply try-out in other class with the similar grade. The instrument used for this study was writing test which were conducted as a pre-test before the application of flashcard and post-test after it. The students’ scores, as data of this research were analyzed by using SPSS 25. This study discovered significant enhancement in students’ writing ability before and after employing flashcards. The minimum score of post-tests was 18,00, the maximum score of post-tests was 21,00, the mean score was 19,26, and the standard deviation was 1,182. The findings of this study employing flashcard showed that researcher believed flashcards to be an effective way for teaching students writing ability. Based on the result, when students practice writing ability and get used to it, students will become more proficient in English.
