The Effectiveness of QAR (Question Answer Relationship) Strategy Based on Text Difficulty Toward The Students’ Reading Comprehension at MTs Sunan Kalijogo Kalidawir Thesis English Education Departement. State Islamic University of Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung. Kata Kunci: Effectiveness, QAR Strategy, Text Difficulty, Reading Comprehension. Reading comprehension is a crucial skill for academic success and lifelong learning. It enables students to understand, interpret, and derive meaning from written text. However, many students struggle with reading comprehension due to the lack of effective teaching strategies.and vocabulary mastery. QAR (Question Answer Relationship) is one of the strategy that have an instructional method that helps students understand the relationship between questions and answers, to improving students comprehension skills. The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness using QAR (Question Answer Relationship) strategy in students' reading comprehension depending on the difficulty level with common and rare vocabulary. QAR (Question Answer Relationship) strategy can be used to measure students' ability to understand the text and when applied it also makes students interested in the topic and makes students understand how to answer questions with the steps in the strategy. This type of research is quantitative with experimental design using QAR stategy. It consists of pre-test, treatment, and post-test. The instrument used in this research is essay test. The population of this study were VIII grade students of MTs Sunan Kalijogo Kalidawir. There are 2 group, experiment group consist of 10 students and control groups consist of 10 students. Researchers used SPSS 16.0 to analyze the data to determine the difference in reading comprehension using QAR (Question Answer Relationship) depending on the level of reading difficulty in VIII grade at MTs Sunan Kalijogp Kalidawir. The results of data analysis show that the value of the results of the Independent Sample T-test statistical calculation shows that the significance value is 0.000, below the significance limit of 0.05 (0.000 <0.05). Thus, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) which states that there is a significant difference in the average score of reading comprehension between students taught QAR with common vocabulary and rare vocabulary is accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) which states that there is no significant difference in the average score of reading comprehension between students taught QAR with common vocabulary and rare vocabulary, is rejected. This shows that there is a significant difference of the students score between the students who are taught by using QAR with common vocabulary and students taught with rare vocabulary. Based on the above results, it can be said that after using common vocabulary to teach reading comprehension, the students showed good results. Then, if taught with vocabulary that is rarely used, student test results are not good. but there was an improvement after the post test. From the results of the study there is a difference after the QAR strategy is applied and before it is applied. After applying the QAR strategy with the use of common vocabulary there is a significant increase in value.
