Abstract
Vocabulary can define a group of letters arranged in a dictionary consisting of one word that has meaning. Learning English as a foreign language requires sufficient vocabulary. Vocabulary has an important role in English language teaching programs. As technology continues to develop, it has given rise to many ideas for using media in learning, one of which is English movies or audio visuals. English movie or audio visuals are a medium that can be used to practice memorizing and understanding vocabulary. The formulation of the problem in this research is "By showing English movie to students of MAN 1 Trenggalek can improve their vocabulary mastery?" The purpose of this research is to help teachers find other media for learning English especially vocabulary, and students can practice vocabulary mastery including reading, writing, and listening something in English in a more interesting and less boring way. The method used in this research is pre-experimental by providing pre-test and post-test questions using quantitative methods. The population of this research is students of class 10-A MAN 1 Trenggalek class. The sample for this research was a class of 10 students at MAN 1 Trenggalek, with 18 students in one class consisting of 7 boys and 11 girls. The instruments used are pre-test and post-test. The findings show that the use of English movie media is effective in learning English vocabulary. This can be seen from the results of the students' average score before being taught using English movie media was 16.22, while the average score after being taught using English movie media was 19.28.
