Lutfiana, Shofi. Registered Number Student. 126203201001. 2024. Discourse Analysis on Greta Gerwig’s Film “Little Women” Using Sara Mills Model. Thesis English Education Department. Bachelor program. Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah State Islamic University Tulungagung. Advisor: Dr. Dwi Astuti Wahyu Nurhayati, S.S., M.Pd. Keywords: Discourse Analysis, Sara Mills and Little Women Patriarchal culture is still prevalent, and patriarchal culture is often found in films. This is what made the researchers take up research related to this matter with the title of this research being Discourse Analysis Using Sara Mills Model in Greta Gerwigs' Film "Little Women". Formulation of research problem based on the background of thr study, the researcher could identify the research problems; what is the position of subject-object and viewer in the film Little Women and what is patriarchal culture in the film Little Women. The purpose of of this study is to describe, analyze, identify and conclude about the subject-object position and the audience's position in playing the character Josephine March in the film Little Women by Greta Gerwig about feminism and to find out the ideology of patriarchy in the film Little Women. This research used descriptive qualitative method using discourse analysis model Sara Mills. The researcher collect data using observation and documentation techniques. Observations are carried out by systematically recording events, behavior, objects seen, and other things needed to support the research being carried out. In the initial stage of observation, the researcher collects as much data or information as possible. Next is documentation, the way to analyze the contents of a document is to examine the document systematically, any form of communication that is expressed in writing in the form of a document objectively. The data source is:the film and script of Little Women by Gerta Gerwig. The results of this research show that the subject position is occupied by Jo March, the object position is occupied by Beth and Mr. Dahwood. The audience's position on the characters Jo, Beth and Mr. Dashwood and there are six types of feminism in film Little Women, there are; liberal feminism, post-modern feminism, marxist-socialist feminism, psychoanalytic feminism, radical feminism, and multicultural and global feminism. There are two forms of patriarchal culture in film Little Women; marginalization and stereotype.
