Abstract
This research measures "The Correlation Between Students' Self-Esteem and Students Skill at Class 9 MTsN 10 Blitar. ". This research question is Is there any Correlation Between Students' Self-Esteem and Students' Speaking Skill in English Class at Class 9 MTsN 10 Blitar. The purpose of this study is to find out whether there is The Correlation Between Students' Self-Esteem and Students' Speaking Skill in English Class at Class 9 MTsN 10 Blitar The researcher used the Quantitative method to assess the correlation between two or more variables. The researcher took a sample of 32 students of MTsN 10 Ponggok Blitar from class 9A. The researcher took samples using the Purposive Sampling method. Data were collected using two types of instruments, namely a questionnaire for Self-Esteem and a test for Speaking Skills. The results of the questionnaire determined the category of students' selfesteem into five categories from very low, low, High, and very high self-esteem levels. Speaking Skills, it was carried out with a speaking test combined with the Role play method with the theme of transactions in the market. The results of the speaking test divided students' speaking skills into four categories, namely Limited, Adequate, Proficient, and Excellent. After calculating through the SPSS 27 program the results of students' scores on speaking skills and self-esteem, the researcher found that from 13 questions that had been distributed via questionnaires to students, students had high self-esteem as many as 26 students as a percentage (81%) with an average score of 60.12, and proficient speaking skills using the role-play method as many as 13 students as a percentage (40%) with an average score of 68.5. Furthermore, the correlation coefficient (rxy) was obtained at 0.305. I saw the correlation level from Hadi explaining that the correlation value is a low correlation level. This means that there is still a correlation even though it is low. Based on the data above, the researcher concluded that H1 is accepted and H0 is rejected, there is a correlation between students' self-esteem and speaking ability using the role play method in the class 9A at MTsn 10 Ponggok Blitar.
