Abstract

DARA PANGESTI RENJANA. 2023. The Effectiveness of using Cake Application on the Students' Speaking Skill at MAMNU Kota Blitar. An English education thesis for the faculty of teacher training and science education at the University State Islamic of Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung. The purpose of this study was to find out the significance of the use of Cake Application as a result of material development in teaching speaking. Cake Application itself means that the researcher designs the material in the form of a video sourced from Cake Applications. The material designed in this research is asking and giving opinion in the form of a dialogue. Limitation the purpose of this study is to focus on analyzing speaking skills in terms of pronunciation. This research method is an experimental method of one class pretest and posttest. Subject This research uses purpose sampling technique. This research instrument collected using an oral test. The test is divided into pretest and posttest. In pretest, students are asked to make a dialogue about asking and opinion about tiktok and after that students talk orally in front of the class. In the posttest, students also have to make a dialogue asking and giving opinion about Instagram and then talk orally in front of the class. Based on the results of the pre-test and post-test, it was found that t count was 10.749 as the significant level with a degree of freedom 30 (df = 31 – 1 = 30, then obtained t table 1.679 from the average score of pre-test 374 (1,44) and post-test 700 (2,3). This shows that the Cake Application material has a significant effect on enhancing abilities speak students in proper pronunciation. Keywords: Cake Application, speaking Skill, pronunciation
