English Education Department. Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training. State Islamic University of Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung. Advisor: Prof. Dr. Erna Iftanti, S.S., M.Pd Keyword: Students’ Reading Comprehension, Webtoon Comic Reading is the process of comprehending a text. In the contexts of students’ ability, reading is understanding the meaning of text that they are reading. Reading with comprehension means one will recognize the purpose and the important points of the text besides understanding the surface meaning of the text therefore, there are five reading aspects which help students comprehend the English text well, namely: main idea, specific information, reference, inference, and vocabulary. This research was focus on reading comprehension. It is related to the problem identification that students’ difficult to find aspect such us making inference, finding the mind idea of the text, finding specific information, and also find it difficulty when working on question about reading text English. Based on preliminary studies, students feel less interested in reading, especially reading comprehension, because the reading text is too long and they lack interest or motivation to read it. English teachers do not use creative and innovative media, so students have very poor reading comprehension skills. This research was conducted to investigate “How can webtoon comic to improve students’ reading comprehension”. This research aim to improve the use of webtoon comic on solving the problem of the students’ reading comprehension. This research objective to improve students’ in reading comprehension through webtoon comic. The subject of this research was the class VIII G Junior High School 3 Kedungwaru Tulungagung which consists 30 students. The research employed four-steps of Classroom action Research (CAR) approach by Kemmis and McTaggart which entailed planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The data were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. In qualitative data was got through observation. For quantitative data was got through test score obtained by students’ from reading comprehension test. After applying and taking action using webtoon comic, the average student score can increase. Which, the first value taken from the Preliminary-test resulted in an average of 26.6% students successfully touching the target number of KKM which is 80, which means 8 students have successfully achieved it. Then this average increased rapidly after the action in cycle 1, as evidenced by the results of student achievement in this cycle increased quite well compared before. Namely 40% of students have successfully reached the KKM score, this value increased by 13,4% and increased by 6 students who were able to reach the target. This significant increase is a positive trend for the next cycle of action, which in cycle 2 with an average of 80% with a total success of 24 students out of a total of 30 students. In cycle 2, the increase was quite rapid, so that the average student could reach the KKM target. So that the results have met the success criteria in the study and are declared successful in improving students’ reading comprehension using webtoon comic.
