Abstract

The thesis entitled “The Effect of Using the Drill Method Based on Zep Quiz on Students’ Mastery of Qawaid at the Tenth Grade of MAN 2 Blitar in the Academic Year 2025/2026” was written by Moch. Abharina Rizal Aziqoh, Student ID 1860202221035, Arabic Language Education Study Program, Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training, State Islamic University Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. H. Imam Fu’adi, M.Ag. Keywords: Drill Method, Zep Quiz, Mastery of Qawaid Qawaid is closely related to Arabic language skills. In this study, the researcher used the drill method to improve students’ mastery of qawaid. This method is characterized by repetitive exercises, which potentially lead to monotonous and less engaging learning. Therefore, the researcher integrated this method with a digital game-based medium, namely Zep Quiz, to create a more interactive and engaging learning environment. This study aims to analyze the effect and the magnitude of the effect of using the drill method based on Zep Quiz on students’ qawaid mastery at the tenth grade of MAN 2 Blitar in the academic year 2025/2026. This research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design using a nonequivalent control group design. The subjects of the study consisted of 60 students divided into two groups: an experimental class and a control class. The research instruments were pre-test and post-test, which had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis was conducted through normality and homogeneity tests as prerequisite tests, followed by the Independent Sample t-Test to test the hypothesis, and effect size calculation using Cohen’s d to determine the magnitude of the effect. The results showed that there is a statistically significant effect of using the drill method based on Zep Quiz on students’ qawaid mastery, with a significance value of 0.011, which is lower than 0.05. In addition, the effect size value of 0.683 indicates a moderate level of effect. Thus, it can be concluded that the use of the drill method based on Zep Quiz is statistically effective and pedagogically relevant in improving students’ mastery of qawaid. This finding implies that the integration of practice-based methods with interactive digital media can serve as a solution to overcome the challenges of Arabic language learning, which is often perceived as difficult and monotonous.
