Abstract

The Effectiveness of Using Zooming In And Zooming out (ZIZO) Strategy Toward Reading Comprehension in Descriptive Text of Seventh Grade Students at Mts Sunan Kalijogo Kalidawir. Sarjana Thesis. Pd Keywords: ZIZO Strategy, Reading Comprehension, Descriptive text Reading is one of important skill that has to be mastered by Junior High School students. However, mastering reading especially in comprehension is not always easy for the students because it needs high thinking. To help the students comprehend the text better, it needs appropriate strategy Therefore, the researcher used ZIZO Strategy as the strategy in teaching reading comprehension of descriptive text at eleventh grade of MTs Sunan Kalijogo Kalidawir. ZIZO Strategy represents the details of an idea, event, or person using closely examining specific features and traits (zooming in) and the big picture (zooming out). The formulation of the research problem can be stated as follow: Is there any significant difference on reading comprehension before and after using ZIZO Strategy? And the purpose of the study was: To find out if there is any significant effect of using ZIZO Strategy on students’ achievement in reading comprehension of descriptive text. The research method: 1) the research used quantitative approach research with pre- experimental design, 2) the population of this research was all students of seventh grade at MTs Sunan kalijogo Kalidawir, 3) the sample was VII A 1 class consisting of 31 students, 4) the research instrument was test, 5) the data analyzed was analyze by using SPSS The result showed that the student’s mean score in reading comprehension score before they were taught using ZIZO Strategy pre-test (62.58), while after the student’s mean score in reading comprehension score after they are taught by using ZIZO Strategy (74.35). The tcount was 3.622, whereas with significant level was 0,05. It meant the alternative hypothesis (Ha) which state there is significant different score of the students reading comprehension before and after taught by using ZIZO Strategy of the seventh grade students at MTs Sunan Kalijogo Kalidawir was accepted. The null hypothesis (Ho) which state there is no significant different score of the students reading comprehension before and after taught by using ZIZO Strategy of the seventh grade students at MTs Sunan Kalijogo Kalidawir was rejected. It could be concluded that using ZIZO Strategy was effective used in teaching reading comprehension on descriptive text.
