Keywords : the implementation, exit slip, reading comprehension Reading skill is necessary for readers in acquiring knowledge and new information. By reading, the readers can get lot of information that will be needed in their life. Therefore, there are many strategies in reading comprehension that can be conducted in the class. It is important to use an appropriate strategy to he lp the students more easily in understanding the material. In this research, researcher observed Exit Slip Strategy that be used by the English teacher to make their students understand the reading material. ESS is the one of any beneficial strategies that teacher can engage in after reading to increase comprehension. Based on the explanation above the researcher was very motivated and interested in conducting the research concerning the implementation of ESS in students’ reading comprehension among seventh graders at MTs Al Ma’arif Tulungagung. Based on the explanation above the researcher decided to conduct a study about the implementation of ESS in students’ reading comprehension among seventh graders by English teacher at MTs Al Ma’arif Tulungagung by so me research problem: 1) How does the English teacher implement the Exit Slip strategy at MTs Al Ma’arif Tulungagung? 2) How does the English teacher evaluate students by using Exit Slip strategy at MTs Al Ma’arif Tulungagung? The purposes of this study were to: 1) Investigate how the English teacher implement the Exit Slip strategy at MTs Al Ma’arif Tulungagung, 2) Investigate how the teacher evaluate students by using Exit Slip strategy at MTs Al Ma’arif Tulungagung. The research design of this research was descriptive qualitative. Descriptive design was used in this research because it was aimed at describing the implementation of ESS and the data from this research were verbal data. In this research, the researcher used observation, interview and documentation in collecting the data. In this research data was the teacher’s utterances containing explanation about ESS in students’ reading comprehension. Here the researcher used triangulation to check the validity of data analysis. The researcher analyze the data through three steps; data reduction, data display and conclusion drawing/Verification. The result of this study showed that there are two steps in teaching English by using ESS in reading comprehension (1) In implementing the ESS in reading class the teacher has four steps; first the teacher asked the students to translate the vocabularies first to make the students more easily in understanding the text. Secondly the students translated the text with the teacher. Then by the teacher’s guidance the students did the following exercise of the text. Lastly the teacher asked the students to make a summary of the text at the end of the class. (2) The teacher evaluated students by asking them to make a summary’s lesson and scoring the summary’s result.
