Keywords: Students’ Writing Motivation, Recount Text, Chain Writing Method The success of the students learning process is depending on their motivation. If the students have a good motivation, they will more enthusiastic in the learning process and surely they will get a better result than the students without motivation. In this case, students need using a method in learning process to motivate them. Learning using different method has a great influence to improve students’ motivation. One of the methods that can be used is chain writing method. The teacher of MTs Sultan Agung used chain writing method in improving students’ writing motivation. The formulations of the research problem were: 1) How is the implementation of chain writing method in learning writing at second grade of MTs Sultan Agung? 2) Can the chain writing method improving students’ writing motivation at second grade of MTs Sultan Agung? The purposes of this research were: 1) To know the implementation of chain writing method in learning writing at second grade of MTs Sultan Agung, 2) To know whether the chain writing method can improve students’ writing motivation at second grade of MTs Sultan Agung. The research design in this research is descriptive qualitative. The subjects are the students of MTs Sultan Agung. The researcher use interviews as the instrument of the research. The data analysis in this research are classifying or tabulating data, data reduction, data display and the last making conclusion. The result of this research showed that the implementation of chain writing more effective to improve students’ writing motivation because by using this method the students will not bored on the learning process at school. Besides that, using chain writing method also makes easier for student to understand the material
