English Education Department. Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training State Islamic Institute (IAIN) of Tulungagung Advisor : Dr. Susanto, S.S., M.Pd. Keywords : Speech Acts, Illocutionary Act, Perlocutionary Act, Movie Speech acts is one of the branches of Pragmatics. Speech acts is defined as an act that is performed by an utterance. Speech acts has three types of the act –locutionaryact, Illocutionary act, and perlocutionary act -. This research focus on illocutionary act and perlocutionary act. Illocutionary act is an act that is delivered through utterance made for a communicative purpose. It has five types –Expressive act, Representative act, Directive act, Declaration act, and Commisive act -. Then, Perlocutionary act is an act created by the speaker with a certain function on the assumption that the hearer will recognize the message. In this research, the researcher would analyze illocutionary act and perlocutionary act that was performed by Joy as one of the characters in Inside Out Movie. There were three statements of research problem in this research. The first problem was what are the type of Illocutionary act used by Joy as one of the characters in Inside Out Movie?. The second was what are the effect (Perlocutionary Act) of the utterances which have spoken by Joy as one of the characters in Inside Out Movie?. The third was how does the context influence the utterances which are spoken by Joy as one of character in Inside Out Movie?. This research belongs to library research. The method used in this research was the qualitative content analysis method. The object of this research was Inside Out Movie. The data of this research is obtained from the utterances performed by Joy as one of the character in Inside Out Movie. The procedure of data analysis were : 1) Selecting the data, 2) analyzing the data, 3) Classifying the data, and 4) interpreting the data. Based on the analysis, it was found that : (1) there were numerous types of Illocutionary act performed by Joy as one of character in Inside Out Movie. They were directive act, expressive act, commisive act, and representative act, (2) the effects (Perlocutionary act) of utterances which have been spoken by Joy are hearer does something, hearer believe in something, hearer knows about something, and hearer is pleased. (3) the context influences the utterances in interpreting the their meaning.
