A Thesis, English Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah University of Tulungagung. Advisor: Dr. Arina Shofiya, M.Pd. Keyword : Character Education, Textbook In the current era of globalization, the role of education has shifted from purely academic instruction to the holistic development of a student's moral and ethical identity. Within the Indonesian educational landscape, this shift is formalized through the Kurikulum Merdeka, which mandates the integration of national character values into every subject, including foreign language acquisition. Character education plays a vital role in shaping the ethical and moral foundation of students. In today's educational landscape, the integration of character education into teaching and learning materials is considered essential. One significant medium that holds the potential to instill these values is the textbook. This research focuses on analyzing the character education integrated into the English textbook titled "6th Grade Basic English Book for Elementary School," designed for sixth-grade students. The primary objective of this study is to identify and understand the character education values presented in the textbook, particularly those aligned with the Profil Pelajar Pancasila from the Merdeka curriculum. Through a content analysis study, the researchers aim to shed light on the implementation of character education within the EFL (English as a Foreign Language) textbook. The research utilizes various data analysis techniques, including data comparison, categorization, and presentation, leading to valuable inferences. The findings of this research indicate that the English textbook comprehensively covers all six dimensions of character education, namely: Have faith, fear of almighty god, and having noble character, Global Diversity, Collaboration, Independent, Critical reasoning, and Creative. The study reveals that the textbook incorporates character values 39 times across its different chapters, with each chapter contributing distinct character values. The integration of character education is thoughtfully woven into the themes of each chapter, employing varied forms such as dialogue and storytelling to reinforce these values effectively. Based on the comprehensive analysis, the research concludes that the English textbook, "6th Grade Basic English Book for Elementary School," is well-suited to serve as an impactful tool for character education in the classroom.
