Advisor: Emmi Naja, Ph.D. Keywords: Threads Application, Learning Media, Vocabulary This study aims to investigate on whether the use of Threads Application is effective or not as a learning media to improve students' vocabulary mastery for eleventh grade at SMAN 1 Ngunut. In this digital era, the utilization of social media as a learning tool at the high school level is increasingly popular due to its interactive nature and easy access for students to change monotonous learning into a joyful learning. The Threads application is integrated with social media platforms that offer new opportunities to deliver interesting and relevant learning content. Therefore, it is important to investigate whether the application will be effective in vocabulary mastery or not. So, the problem formulation of this research is “How is the effectiveness of Threads Application as a visual learning media on students' vocabulary mastery for eleventh grade at SMAN 1 Ngunut?”. A quasi experimental design method is used in this study with two groups, namely experimental and control classes with a quantitative approach. The population of this study was all eleventh grade students at SMAN 1 Ngunut which totaled 439 and a sample of 73 students. In collecting the sample, the researcher used non-probability sampling with purposive sampling technique. The instrument of this research is a vocabulary mastery test. Then to analyze the data, this study used independent sample t-test for hypothesis testing. The research results from the data collected indicate a significant difference in student learning outcomes between the experimental and control classes. This finding is supported by statistical analysis, which shows that the difference is statistically meaningful and not due to chance. This means that Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. Although the average value for both classes has increased, the data showed that the experimental class has a higher average than the control class. From these results it can be concluded that the use of Threads application is effective to improve students’ vocabulary mastery. However, this study still has many limitations such as limited sample size and coverage, short treatment duration, and only focuses on vocabulary. Further, the researcher recommends to future researchers can conduct similar research using Threads application for different abilities or other types of text, then it is hoped that English teachers to integrate Threads or similar social media applications as one of the vocabulary learning media, and for application developers it is recommended to develop more complete and interactive educational features in the Threads application.
