Keywords : Analysis, Conflict, Conflict Management Strategies, Film Conflict is one of the elements in literature, especially in film. The definition of conflict is a struggle of a character in facing a problem. Conflicts are divided into two; internal conflict and external conflict. The external conflict itself is divided into three types; man vs man, man vs society, and man vs nature. The internal conflict is the problem that occurs in the character’s mind- it means that the character faces himself inside it. Then, the external conflict is the conflict that comes from the outside of the character. In addition, it may involve the character between another character, society, or nature. In facing the conflict, the character uses strategy to solve it which is called by conflict management strategies. Conflict management strategies are the process of solving the problem inside the conflict by using approaches that are capable to reduce or even terminate the conflict. The conflict management strategy has five types; avoidance, pacification, competition, compromise, and creative integration. In this research, the researcher would analyze the conflicts and conflict management strategies that happened to Mr. Keating as the main character in Dead Poets Society film. The researcher stated three research problems in this research. The first was what are the internal conflict faced by the main character in “Dead Poets Society” film?. The second was what are the external conflict faced by the main character in “Dead Poets Society” film?. The third was what kinds of strategies were used by the main character in solving the conflicts in “Dead poets Society” film?. This research is included in library research. The qualitative content analysis method is the method used by the researcher. The object in this research was Dead Poets Society film. The data of this research is obtained from the utterances, expression and the action of Mr. Keating as the main character in Dead Poets Society film. The procedure of data analysis was: 1) Selecting the data, 2) analyzing the data, 3) Classifying the data, and 4) interpreting the data. Based on the analysis, the researcher found that Keating faced numerous types of conflict. There was internal and external conflict. Furthermore, the external conflict that happened in Dead Poets Society film was man vs man and man vs society conflict. Moreover, the researcher also found that Keating used 4 of 5 types in terms of conflict management strategies. There were pacification, competition, compromise, and creative integration.
