Abstract
ABSTRACT Dewi, Agung Puspita A Descriptive Study of the Teacher's Way in Motivating the Students in Learning English at MTs AL Islam Tulungagung Academic Year 2014-2015. Thesis.English Education Program State Islamic College of Tulungagung (IAIN) Tulungagung. Advisor: Nanik Sri Rahayq M.Pd Keywords: Descriptive Study, Motivating Learning English It is important for the teacher to motivate the shrdents especially for those who have low motivation in their learning process for English subject in order that they can learn well and improve their perfonnance. The teacher can motivate the students by applylng some ways and sup'ports- By doing so, it is expected that there is some improvement in students lanring prooess. Therefore, the writer is interested to conduct a study on the teacher's way in motivating the students. The problem of this research are: l) How is the teachers' way in motivation the students in learning English in the 8m grade of MTs. Al-Islam Tulungagung; 2) what kinds of supports grven by the teacher to motivate students of MTs. Al-Islam Tulungagung; 3) To whd extent do teachers' motivation contibute the students' improvement in MTs. Al-Islam Tulungagung. The purpose of this research is to find the solution of the stded problem, which are: 1) To know how the teachers' way is in motivating the students in leaming English in the 8h grade of MTs. Al-Islam Tulungagung; 2) To know what kinds of supports given by the teacher to motivate students of MTs. Al-Islam Tulungagung; 3) To know to what extent teachers' motivdion contibute the students' improvement in MTs. Al-Islam Tulungagung. The research method: 1) The resarch desrgn was desctiptive qualitative research, 2) The informants in this research were English teachq of MTs. Al-Islam Tulungagung and the students of the 8b grade; 3) Data in this research were the information obtained of interview conducted by the resercher to the English teacher of the 86 grade MTs. A1- Islam; 4) Data collection was using questionnaire, observation md interview; 5) The data analysis used in this research was inductive. This research revealed that the teachers' ways and supports used so far in the school were proved to increase the motivation in stude,nts to learn English. Some proposition in teaching media and innovation somehow seems to be a good way to improve teachers' performmce in t€aching the students. The finding of this research: 1) Tacher's way to motivate students of MTs Alslam in learning English are praise students in any way, expected excellence, sprad excitement like a virus, mix it up, assign classroom jobs, relating lessons to student's lives! track improvement. 2) What kinds of support gtven by the teacher to motivate students of MTs ALIslam in learning English are curriculum, assessmeirt and reporting and the modules. 3) To what extent do teacher's motivates contribute the students English improvement in MTs AL-Islam are until student en develop hight to study English" until students feel that study English is important, teacher give time in out time of lesson for student to ask question
