Abstract

Key word: Vocabulary, Pocket Book, Development and MTs Darul Huda. In MTs Darul Huda, there are many students get problems in learning English, especially in seventh grade students. It is because students material is not equipped with vocabulary that can be used as reference to look for difficult words in learning English. In teaching and learning process, the teacher always give opportunity to the students to ask difficult words or to look for in the dictionary. But, most of them do not look for difficult words in the dictionary, they always ask the teacher about difficult words repeatedly. The students do not open the dictionary because they think that look for dificult words in the dictionary wastes time and many words in the dictionary make them getting confused. To solve the problem above, the writer developed a pocket book for vocabulary that suitable with their English book in order to make the students can improve their vocabulary mastery and the students can look for difficult words easily. The objective of development this pocket book to improve the seventh grade students vocabulary mastery so they can learning English easily. For the teacher, the teacher can deliver the material easily using this pocket book. The writer was developed the product using Addie’s model development. Addie’s model consist of 5 steps development. In this research, the writer modified Addie’s model. Modified Addie’s model consist of 3 steps, they are (1) Need Analysis, (2) Design, and (3) Development. The product in this reserach is a pocket book for vocabulary. The content of pocket book for vocabulary are vocabularies that suitable in the students book. The structure of the pocket book are the cover, the table of content, preface, vocabularies and bibliography. This pocket book consist about three chapter and every pages in the pocket book same with pages that is stated in the students book. This product is considered useful to the seventh grade students of MTs Darul Huda to improve their vocabulary mastery. This is in line with the result of the questionaire stating 64% of them can improve their vocabulary mastery and can learn English easily using the pocket book.
