Keywords: Central Language Improvement (CLI), Language Environment Language is important for communicating and a tool of communication of all around the world. Language is important part for all people for sustaining their lives. All people in the world use language to get knowledge and information. One of the theories is by creating an artificial environment where everyone in the environment use English as the main language, by doing it, it is expected to habituate students to speak English so their speaking skill will be developed. Pesantren also encountered a big challenge in facing modernization of education in Indonesia. Pesantren which have organized type of formal education is applying the learning pattern like in Madrasah and public schools. These pesantren are studying general sciences and applying the bilingual program as well. One of the pesantrens that implement the language environment as described above is Darul Hikmah Modern Islamic Boarding School. Darul Hikmah Modern Islamic Boarding School have a manager in managing the Language Program named CLI (Central Language Improvement). The duties of CLI are become the manager of language program at the boarding school. The researcher interest to conduct the research in Darul Hikmah Modern Islamic Boarding School especially in English speaking program of students at Darul Hikmah Modern Islamic Boarding School. The formulation of the research problem are: 1) What is the role of CLI in managing the activities of language environment at Darul Hikmah Modern Islamic Boarding School? 2) What are the problem and solutions of CLI in manging the language environment at Darul Hikmah Modern Islamic Boarding School? 3) What is the role of CLI in managing the material of language environment at Darul Hikmah Modern Islamic Boarding School? 4) What is the role of CLI in managing the evaluation of language environment at Darul Hikmah Modern Islamic Boarding School? The objective of this study are to find out: 1) The role ofCLI in managing the activities of language environment at Darul Hikmah Modern Islamic Boarding School 2) The problem and solutions of CLI in manging the languageenvironment at Darul Hikmah Modern Islamic Boarding School 3) the role of CLI in managing the material of language environment at Darul Hikmah Modern Islamic Boarding School. 4) The role of CLI in managing the evaluation of language environment at Darul Hikmah Modern Islamic Boarding School. The research design in this research is case study with qualitative approach. The subject are the staff of CLI (Central Language Improvement) and some students of Darul Hikmah Modern Islamic Boarding School. The researcher use interviews, observations, and documentation as the instrument of the research. The data analysis in this research are classifying or tabulating data, data reduction, data display and the last concluding data. The researcher used methodology triangulation in this research. The research findings are the role of CLI (Central Language Improvement) are become the supervisor, manager and also the facilitator for all the activities, the problems and solutions, the materials, and the evaluations for the students on language environment at Darul Hikmah Modern Islamic Boarding School.
